Digital technology was at the forefront of The Houlden Group’s latest Member event, held at prestigious golfer’s paradise – The Belfry.

The consortium of luxury jewellers from across the UK and Ireland swapped traditional paper proforma for online forms and digital platforms to order pieces and submit feedback on various facets of the two-day event, designed to help members take their business to the next level by providing invaluable advice and superb networking opportunities.

At the day-one Member’s Morning, Houlden Group CEO, Helen Haddow, incorporated audience interaction tool SLIDO to tee off an interactive Q&A session using mobile devices to crowdsource questions from the audience during and after presentations and allowed each member to vote to have the questions they found most beneficial to their business needs answered.

The second day of the event played host to the prestigious Supplier Exhibition, where internationally renowned suppliers and the best independent retailers in the UK and Ireland have the opportunity to catch up and do business.

CEO of the Houlden Group, Helen Haddow, said: “In today’s ever advancing retail environment we need to be quick, very agile and adaptable to change. Despite the well-documented stuttering or falling of high street giants, retail is not collapsing – it’s just changing and shifting, and we must work hard to adjust to the new reality of retail which means moving with the times and walking confidently on the digital high street while strengthening our offer on the traditional one.

I believe we have made positive steps to do so here at the event and will continue to educate and inspire our members to move with the times and focus on the positives of doing so.”
